2010 Annual Report: CIRM Major Stem Cell Facilities Opening
CIRM Major Facilities
Creating jobs and tax revenues
CIRM's major facilities program creates state-of-the art space for carrying out stem cell research. The agency's initial investment of $271 million leveraged private donations and institutional commitments toward 12 buildings and recruitments worth more than a billion dollars. That investment created 13,000 job years and $100 million in tax revenues for the state at a time when they were critically needed.
