Year 1

This grant supported a meeting of clinicians and scientists who work on amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), which is also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. The meeting helped advance the ALS field by providing an opportunity for scientists in the field to hear updates from others on unpublished work from their groups, particularly on stem cell research and ALS stem cell trials. It also helped advance the ALS field by providing an opportunity for scientists to hear about work and approaches from outside the ALS field that would help benefit ALS research. Finally, it fostered collaborations between basic scientists and clinicians and between investigators in academia and industry to accelerate the discovery of therapies for ALS.
