Spolight on Leukemia: Catriona Jamieson, M.D.
Catriona Jamieson, M.D., spoke at the “Spotlight on Leukemia,” an educational event presented at the CIRM Governing Board meeting on June 18, 2009. Jamieson discussed the stem cell-based research that led to a clinical trial for the treatment of myeloid proliferative diseases, which are blood disorders that can lead to acute leukemia.
Jamieson is assistant professor of medicine at the University of California, San Diego and director for stem cell research at Moores UCSD Cancer Center. She has a CIRM grant to derive and characterize cancer stem cells in human embryonic stem cells. David Benner, M.D., dean of the UCSD School of Medicine, introduced Jamieson.
