Objective

This Program Announcement (PA) will support the development and conduct of scientific conferences relevant to stem cell research. A scientific conference is defined as an organized event where persons physically assemble to exchange scientific information or explore a defined scientific subject. Support of such conferences is contingent on the fiscal and programmatic priorities of CIRM. Conference grant awards are open to non-profit organizations in California.

CIRM plans to allocate up to $300,000 annually for this program. The total amount awarded and the number of awards will depend upon the number, quality, timing, and costs of the proposals received, and on CIRM programmatic priorities. The maximum award (i.e., total for all years requested) that will be supported under this PA is the lesser of $50,000 or 50% of the total conference budget, unless otherwise approved by the ICOC.

Application Instructions and Forms

Applications for conference grants will be accepted, reviewed and approved periodically as indicated in the table below. The application form is available through the CIRM Grants Management Portal at https://grants.cirm.ca.gov/login/login .

The application for CIRM Conference Grants consists of two parts:

  • Part A: Application Information and Proposal [Web-based document]
  • Part B: Supporting Documentation

The Conference Grant application must be submitted by the Program Director via the CIRM Grants Management Portal, as follows:

  1. Go to the Grants Management Portal (https://grants.cirm.ca.gov/login/upgrade_browser) and log in with your existing CIRM Username and Password. If you do not have a Username, Click on the “New User” link and follow the instructions to create a CIRM Username and password.
  2. After logging in, click on the “Open Programs” tab and look for the section labeled “RFAs and Programs Open for Applications“. Click on the “Start a Grant Application” link corresponding to the “PA 08-06 CIRM Conference Awards: Grant Application” section.
  3. Using the drop down menu, identify the Institution from which you intend to apply and click “Save“.
  4. Complete each section of the application by clicking on the appropriate link and following the posted instructions. Part B of the application must be uploaded by clicking on the “Upload Required Documents” link. The signature page template (an html print screen) can also be found and submitted in the “Upload Required Documents” section.
  5. To submit your application, click on the “Done with Grant Application” button. The “Done with Grant Application” button will be enabled when all required sections have been completed and the signature page uploaded. Please note that once this has been selected, you will no longer be able to make changes to your Grant Application.
  6. To confirm submission of your Grant Application, go back to your home page and check the list under the section labled “Your Submitted Applications“. You will see your Grant Application number and meeting title entered for PA 08-06 CIRM Conference Awards: Grant Application uder this section once the submission process has been completed.
