Spotlight on Deafness: Seminar by Ebenezer Yamoah, Ph.D.
Ebenezer N. Yamoah, Ph.D. spoke at the “Spotlight on Deafness,” an educational event presented at the CIRM Governing Board meeting on March 12, 2008. Yamoah overviewed the biological mechanisms of hearing and discussed his stem cell research, which seeks to regenerate hair cells of the inner ear in order to restore hearing. Yamoah has a CIRM grant to identify the requirements for differentiating human embryonic stem cells into hair cells. Yamoah is a professor of otolaryngology at the University of California, Davis School of Medicine.
Dr. Yamoah was introduced by Claire Pomeroy, Ph.D., M.B.A. Dr. Pomeroy is Vice Chancellor for Human Health Sciences and Dean of the School of Medicine at the University of California, Davis.
The CIRM-hosted event was presented at the Crest Theater in Sacramento, California in partnership with the University of California, Davis.
