Year 2

During the past year, we have made enormous progress toward our goals of discovering new growth factors in the bone marrow microenvironment that promote blood stem cell growth and regeneration. We have successfully utilized animal models to test the function of specific genes and proteins that govern blood stem cell growth and have also discovered new small molecules that act upon these proteins to induce blood and immune system regeneration following injury. Lastly, we have initiated the development of 2 investigational new drug applications for the purpose of translating our discoveries into the clinic.
